Sashiko and Boro are both traditional Japanese arts that add beauty and strength to worn clothing. These techniques began in the 1600's to prolong the life and strengthen worn out farmers clothing made of indigo-dyed cotton, using simple running stitches to create patterns. With Sashiko, patching becomes beautiful.

BUAISOU is an indigo farmer and dyer collective based in Tokushima, Japan, a region long known for its deep connection to natural indigo.

Founded by farmers and dyers who wanted to work with indigo from the ground up, BUAISOU is involved in every step of the process — from cultivating indigo plants and producing Sukumo (indigo compost), to fermentation, dyeing, and making finished products.
